With depleting energy sources, “Go Solar” is the need of the hour. So a team of high school students took initiative to train young minds so that they understand the importance of solar and adopt it. Taking a step towards this, Solar Engineering Sessions were organized for grades 9 to 12. Around 150 students benefited from the sessions and worked on various solar projects like Solar Light, Solar Fan, Solar Buddy, Solar Insect Catcher and Solar Street Light.
The sessions were taken by Dr. Narendra Khatri (Ph.D. LNMIIT, Postdoc), Assistant Professor, Dept. of Mechatronics Engineering Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. He shared his knowledge with students so that they can understand the technical aspect of using Solar power and also why going for solar power is important. During the sessions, the students were overwhelmed as they got hands-on experience with multimeter, soldering, various types and different watt solar panels, their charging time, different batteries, LED panels, etc. The purpose of such sessions is to teach students and through them spread the knowledge across the community.
We have launched a public awareness campaign to promote the benefits of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency. The campaign is part of a broader energy programme under Game Changer Solar.
The objectives of the campaign are:
